Who We Are

Awareness. Education. Empowerment.

The Lehigh Valley Dementia-Friendly Coalition seeks to raise awareness of, and reduce the stigma surrounding, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD) through our Dementia-Friendly Lehigh Valley (DFLV) initiative. The Lehigh Valley is one of thousands of communities across the United States recognized as part of the National Dementia Friendly America initiative. DFLV seeks to empower the Lehigh Valley community to become more accessible to and supportive of individuals affected by ADRD, and their caregivers.

Dementia-Friendly Lehigh Valley is comprised of organizations, individuals, and municipalities, fostering a dementia-friendly community that is more inclusive and supportive of those living with dementia, their families, and care partners. We focus on active engagement and creating a good quality of life for older adults by embracing dignity, empowerment, and autonomy, enabling well-being throughout the dementia trajectory.

Mission

The mission of DFLV is to raise awareness of, and reduce the stigma related to, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD) among community members, and encourage the Lehigh Valley community to become more accessible to and supportive of individuals affected by ADRD, and their caregivers.

Vision

To create a greater community that embraces and encourages people with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders by cultivating dignity, empowerment, and autonomy. We envision a community of organizations and individuals equipped to support people living with dementia so they can remain in the community and engage and thrive in day-to-day living.
